How Conversations of the Soul with Baby was Born by Margo Carrera
The story is told that when a woman in a certain African tribe knows that she is pregnant, she goes out into the wilderness with a few friends and together they pray and meditate until they hear the song of her unborn child. This song is in recognition that every soul has its own vibration that expresses its unique expression and purpose in life. Once the song is heard, the women attune to the song and then they sing it out loud. This is a sacred moment for the mother and child. They then return to the tribe where the mother teaches the song to the father and then she and the father go and teach the song to everyone else in the tribe.
When the child is born, the community gathers and sings the child’s song. Later, when the child enters education, the village gathers and chants the child’s song once again. When the child passes through the initiation to adulthood, the tribal people again come together and sing. This song is sung at the persons wedding and finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the tribe sings the song to help the person pass from this life to the next life.
There are many native traditions that are similar to the one I am teaching now. Perhaps it is time to bring this custom to all people so that all may enjoy the multiple benefits. It has been my great pleasure to experience sharing this with many expectant parents throughout the United States. What I have seen is that it creates a communication bond so precious and sacred that the entire family benefits, Mother, Father, and Baby.
